Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confessed that his side is suffering after the sale of star man Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Daily Star reports.
Suarez scored an astonishing 31 goals in 37 appearances for the Reds last season, and Rodgers is having trouble filling the void left by the Uruguayan.
The Merseyside club are still finding the consistency that made them such a force in the league last year, and in the past three games only have a scrappy 2-1 win over Ludogorets to show for their efforts.
With five games gone, the Reds have already lost three Premier League fixtures due to the sale of Suarez and their growing injury list.
Daniel Sturridge, who was a key component for Liverpool last season with 24 goals, has been sidelined since game-week three while Joe Allen, Emre Can, and Glen Johnson are also injured.
“We need to get back to doing what we do best,”Rodgers said.
“With the injured players we have, I need to retain a system for a longer period.
“The 4-4-2 diamond worked really well but it worked well with certain players and not at the weekend.
“Until I get all the players back that I know are available and are multifunctional players, I’ll look at the strength of the players we do have fit.
“We need to get back to our way of working and we know that will bring us success.”
Liverpool face Middlesbrough on Tuesday in a Capital One Cup clash before hosting Everton this weekend in the Merseyside derby.
