Arsenal are planning a mega £55million move for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani, Metro reports.
The Uruguayan international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates during the past summer, with the Gunners making several attempts to sign the striker in the transfer window.
Those enquiries were however rejected by the Ligue-1 champions, but Cavani has recently become frustrated with the club’s poor form and Arsenal are ready to make a January swoop.
Sources from Spain suggest that manager Arsene Wenger has given the go ahead for the move, with officials already planning to negotiate with PSG.
Cavani is expected to be valued at £55million by the French club, and if he was to complete the move, would become Arsenal’s most expensive ever signing after Mesut Ozil’s £42.5million transfer in the summer of 2013.
Former Napoli hitman Cavani had an under-par 2013-2014 season, but still managed to score 25 goals in 43 appearances.
